Writing

Kai Proschan is a writer, editor, and the founder of The Girls Book, a digital magazine and cultural archive dedicated to trans femmes.

As a non-binary, trans-femme storyteller, their writing and editorial practice is an act of world-building—focused on diversifying, challenging, and archiving trans narratives. Their work explores the intersections of identity, art, community, and culture.

As the editor-in-chief of The Girls Book, they lead the brand's editorial vision, from long-form features and interviews to the audio storytelling of the “That's Mother” podcast.

Kai's perspective is also informed by their multi-disciplinary artistic practice, which includes olfactory art and movement. This unique sensory lens gives their writing a distinct texture, allowing them to explore subjects with a deep understanding of physical and sensory experience.

With 8+ years in brand strategy, Kai also excels at crafting compelling copy, defining brand voice, and shaping narratives for publications and brands.
